Today starts the last chickens for 2013. We caught the chickens last night and I started the scalder this morning. So far so good. The scalder didn't go out like the July chicken day so I'm hoping that all will be smooth sailing.
Mulberry Grove is the 160-acre farm of the Chris and Sharon Hoerichs family. We make our home in the heart of the beautiful Great Lakes area of Northwest Iowa. In 1998, we set out on an adventure, leaving the hectic pace of the East Coast in search of a new life in the country. We and our four children, have spent these years developing a model for producing healthy, nutritious beef, chickens, and eggs—in a natural environment and without unnecessary medications. We also grow alfalfa hay and produce. It has been an exciting journey building this family business and we have all thrived along the way.
